TEN HAPPENINGS FOR A GREAT EVENT

Sun and water, wind and hard competitions. Beach, music and parties. This is what 15^ Windsurf World Festival will be made of.

It will take place in Sicily as usual, from the 29th of may to the 4th of June, in the spectacular setting of Mondello, 7 kilometers away from Palermo.

Ten events for such a particular happening. Spotlights focused on windsurf regattas. As it was last year, some of the best in the world ranking will fight for 2 races: the Sicily Cup, - individual race valid as a selection for the olympic games, which in 1999 was won by Australian Lars Kleppich, and the Nation Cup which, out of all the teams coming from 15 nations, last year was won by Italian team, followed by Australia and New Zealand.

During the Sicilian week dedicated to sailing other contests are also planned: olympic class Laser Italia Cup, Hobie Cat 16 and 18 National race, monotype Catamaran race valid for the European championship and two Yacht sailing regattas.

And then on Saturday, the suggestive night-time windsurfing race.

Last year 350 competitors coming from all around the world struggled in the gulf of Mondello, as many are expected to come back this year to take part to the event, which has taken place in Mondello since 1985 and which has ever since been organized by the windsurfing club Albaria from Palermo.

While sailing competitions go on in front of the ancient bathing center on piles which dates back to the beginning of 20th century, volley ball players will compete to become king of the beach in the International tournament, won in the last edition by the French couple Dellofuč-Guissard.

And afterwards, every day at sunset, time for music. National and international artists will show off until late at night on the huge stage that will be set up on the beach.
